In the fourth quarter of 2024, the performance of the top navigation and maps applications on a unified platform in Costa Rica showed varied trends in downloads and active users, according to Sensor Tower data.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw consistent weekly downloads, starting at around 9.1K and experiencing a notable spike to approximately 15.8K in late October. By the end of December, downloads stabilized at about 9.9K. Weekly active users fluctuated slightly, beginning at 824K and peaking at 885K in early November, before closing the year at 782K.
Google Maps Go maintained a steady increase in downloads, beginning the quarter with about 3.4K and growing to over 4.1K by early December. Active users displayed a similar pattern, starting at 1.45M, dipping mid-quarter, and then recovering to finish at 1.51M.
Google Earth experienced a slight decline in downloads, from 2.1K at the start to about 1.8K by the end of the quarter. Active users showed an increase in October, reaching a high of 22K, before settling at around 15.3K in December.
Offline Maps, GPS, Speedometer had a varied download trend, peaking at 2.4K in November and ending the quarter at 1.8K. Active users followed a similar trajectory, starting at 2.3K, decreasing in mid-quarter, but rising again to 2.3K by the end of December.
Lastly, Radar Map, Radar Detector, HUD experienced declining downloads throughout the quarter, beginning at 4.1K and dropping to 251 by December. Active users remained relatively stable, with a slight decrease from 12.1K to 10.1K over the quarter.
